TYRANT!

Tyrant is a bold display typeface inspired by Georges Djo-Bourgeois' poster for the French 1924 science fiction drama L'Inhumaine by Marcel L'Herbier. Experimental angular counters and distinct variation in stroke width fuse to create a quirky yet assertive typeface. This typeface was created in collaboration with Allison Kiewatt, Libby Richter, Alex Von Gillern, and Kennedy Wade.

Process documentation

Tyrant was created through an iterative process, beginning with sketching out the control characters and using those to then develop the other glyphs. Then, the illustrations of each letter were digitized in Adobe Illustrator, before being translated to Glyphs so that it can be downloaded and used as a functional typeface. Included below is a peak into the process of how I developed my elements of the typeface.
